Gillibrand Puts Self-Interest Before Troops Friday, July 17, 2009 Activists for gays in the military, apparently adopting the leftist mantra "by any means necessary," have launched four major attempts to circumvent the 1993 law stating that homosexuals are not eligible to serve in the armed forces. The statute, which is frequently mislabeled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," enjoys strong support in the military.
