Issue 56: April 2019
We are sending you two new articles showing how the newly re-empowered Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi plans to push her radical social agenda for the military to unprecedented extremes.
The first describes what happened on March 28, when the House followed Pelosi’s lead in voting for HR 124 -- an unprecedented “Military Mutiny Resolution” encouraging the troops to defy President Trump on his transgender policy.
The second new article below analyzes typical arguments that were made against the Trump/Mattis policy, with facts to answer each one.
“Articles of Interest” to CMR shed light on the depth of controversy and thought involved with military/social issues. Pelosi to Troops: Defy Commander-in-Chief on Transgender Policy
House Passes “Military Mutiny Resolution”
On March 28, 2019, Democrats in the House of Representatives staged a show of partisan disdain not just for President Donald Trump, but also for former Defense Secretary James Mattis and anyone who supports the Trump/Mattis policy regarding persons who identify as transgender. This would include more than 60% of recently-surveyed servicemembers and veterans.
HR 124 – a non-binding “sense of Congress” measure “Expressing opposition to banning service in the Armed Forces by openly transgender individuals” – should have been called the “Military Mutiny Resolution.”
The bill includes a string of inaccurate and misleading “Whereas” statements, ending with a “Resolved” clause that “strongly urges the Department of Defense to not reinstate President Trump’s ban on transgender members of the Armed Forces . . .”
The Trump/Mattis Transgender Policy – What Are the Facts?
On March 28, 2019, members of the House of Representatives staged an unserious “debate” about the issue of transgenders in the military. Ultimately, the members approved HR 124, a non-binding “Military Mutiny Resolution” urging members of the military to disregard lawful directives from the Commander-in-Chief. The following responses to ten typically false arguments should be considered any time the issue comes up for discussion in Congress, the Senate, or anywhere else:
1. The Trump/Mattis policy is a “ban” that punishes transgenders for who they are.
The policy is not a “ban” on transgenders as a class, and it does not “punish” or “stigmatize” anyone. The Trump/Mattis policy focuses on . . .
